MTV's hit reality show "Jersey Shore" is now the inspiration for a Hurricane Sandy relief effort from the network.
The network announced Monday plans to air a one-hour fundraising special dedicated to help the Sandy-ravaged coastal town of Seaside Heights, N.J., where "Shore" has filmed since its inception in 2009. The special will air live from MTV's Times Square studios on Nov. 15 at 11 p.m.
The special is meant to encourage people to contribute to the rebuilding of Seaside Heights.
All members of the "Shore" cast - Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Pauly D, Jenni "JWoww" Farley, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola and Deena Cortese - will "be involved" with the fundraising efforts, said a rep for MTV. In addition to castmembers, special guests are slated to appear.
MTV has partnered with the nonprofit Architecture for Humanity, which is getting together a "Restore the Shore" fund to collect donations that will go toward the rebuilding of Seaside's famed boardwalk as well as local businesses and homes.
