Three firefighters injured battling UES blaze: FDNY
Three firefighters were injured Tuesday morning as they battled a blaze on the Upper East Side, officials said.
A fire erupted inside a five-story building on Lexington Avenue near 62nd Street at around 7:30 a.m., according to the FDNY, requiring about 60 firefighters. Two of them sustained minor injuries, but one firefighter was rushed to New York Presbyterian Hospital in "serious but stable condition," according to an FDNY spokesman. He was "alert and conscious" last night, he added.
The fire took over the second and third floor of the building, which houses store fronts and apartments. It was under control at 9 a.m.
