The Hotel Carter in Times Square is the fourth-dirtiest hotel in the U.S., according to a review of the 10 worst places to stay in the country released yesterday by TripAdvisor, a travel-review website.

The rankings were based on the number of poor reviews users gave for each hotel. Seventy-eight percent of Hotel Carter’s 1,061 reviewers on the site gave it a thumbs-down.

“The rooms at this hotel are gross!” wrote one reviewer. “They are dirty, unkempt, they reek of who knows what.” A manager at the hotel was unavailable for comment yesterday.
