Top chefs to teach during fest
Alex Guarnaschelli dishes on the Master Chef classes at the upcoming Wine & Food Festival.
How are the Master Chef classes different from the other events? They give people a look into the other aspects of the lives of the chefs who participate. It’s the difference between going out to dinner and being invited over to dinner by the chef. ... It’s sort of like an unadorned house visit.
What would you like the participants to take away? I’d like people to know that they shouldn’t be afraid to cook, to try new ingredients. And the exposure to the way a chef thinks, hopefully they apply that to some of their home cooking.
The 411: The Master Chef series includes cooking classes with Nick Groz (Oct. 9) and Alex Guarnaschelli (Oct. 10); a pastry class with Brooks Hadley of Del Posto (Oct. 10); and more. Classes are priced $80-$100. For a complete schedule of events, visit nycwineandfood
