  • Traffic snarls likely in coming days

    (Associated Press)

Stick to the subways next week, as high-profile visitors will likely make for a commuting mess.

On Monday, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will be in town for a nuclear conference at the United Nations, meaning protests and slow-moving traffic. Then from Friday to Sunday, Oprah Winfrey will be bopping around town to promote her magazine’s 10th anniversary. The brouhaha includes a walk — called the “Live Your Best Life Walk” for charity —from West 46th Street and Twelfth Avenue to Times Square on Sunday, which will likely cause streets to be roped off.

The NYPD does not comment on security detail or traffic rerouting that far in advance, a spokeswoman said.

Meanwhile, the city will be closing many streets - including Church Street, Sixth Avenue and Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard - on Sunday for the Five Boro Bike Tour. For a complete list, go to www.bikenewyork.org.
