For those seeking soul food in Harlem, here’s a list of must-tries:

    Sylvia's
For going on 50 years, Sylvia's Restaurant has been the locus of Harlem's soul food scene. The weekend brunches — jazz on Saturdays, gospel on Sundays — are especially popular.
    328 Lenox Ave., 212-996-0660

    Miss Maude's
A casual, inexpensive option for home-cooked food, Miss Maude’s features all the classics. You wish you had an aunt who cooked like this.
    547 Lenox Ave., 212-690-3100

    Londel's Supper Club
Cajun cooking, Southern charm and historic Harlem converge at Londel’s, where Mr. Londel Davis has been holding it down since 1994.
    2620 Frederick Douglass Blvd., 212-234-6114

    Amy Ruth's
What more do you need to know except that Amy Ruth's menu contains a special called the Rev. Al Sharpton? (That's a chicken-and-waffles combo.)
    113 W. 116th St., 212-280-8779

    Melba's
Melba's opened in 2005 and quickly earned a dedicated following for its rewarding updates of Southern classics served in a pretty and sophisticated room.
    300 W. 114th St., 212-864-7777
