Woman hit and killed by subway in Brooklyn: Officials
A woman was hit and killed by a subway train in Brooklyn Tuesday after falling onto the tracks after appearing dizzy or ill, according to the NYPD.
The unidentified woman, between 40 and 50 years old, fell in front of a 3 train at the Eastern Parkway and Utica Avenue station around 10:20 a.m. yesterday, the NYPD said. Witnesses described her as sick or dizzy before she fell, police said.
The woman was the eighth subway death this year, and her death came days after City Councilman and Chair of the Transportation Committee James Vacca held an emergency hearing on the recent spate of deaths. Fifty-five people were killed by subways in 2012.
