  • You can't "Chase" away ghost of Chemical Bank

    At the southeast corner of 34th Street and Fifth Avenue, right across from the Empire State Building, survives a trace of one of New York's banking giants. If the massive Chase logo doesn't distract you too much, you'll spot ghost lettering for Chemical Bank, once a household name.

    Some 13 years after Chemical was gobbled up by Chase Manhattan, the old bank still haunts one very prominent corner of Manhattan.
