Barber criticism is cutting

Thank you to readers who weighed in on my request for help with this intriguing question:

Has any athlete in New York sports history who was among the 20 or so best players for his franchise been as disliked in retirement as Tiki Barber?

Short answer: no.

Some readers mentioned Roger Clemens, but he certainly is not among the best 20 Yankees ever based on what he did during his time in New York.

A couple mentioned Mark Gastineau. Um, no.

Bottom line: There never has been anything quite like the negativity surrounding Barber.
