Bill Cowher still is at CBS, but for how long?

I was the guy who asked Bill Cowher in 2007 at CBS's annual preseason NFL luncheon how long he might stay out of coaching.

I asked him again in '08. So, what the heck, I tried it again Tuesday.

Is he any closer to - or further from - getting back into coaching than he was a year ago?

Cowher jokingly deferred to his "spokesman," Shannon Sharpe, who said, "We have comment at this time."

When the laughter died down Cowher said: "You look at everything every year and take it year by year."

He added that one of the season's most intriguing story lines will be the performances of some of the league's young coaches, with this as a backdrop:

"There are a lot of Super Bowl-winning coaches that will be out there next year. Not just myself. There are a  number of them. Mike Shananan, Jon Gruden to name a few.

"It will be interesting to see how some young coaches do and I'm excited for them."
