Blame February doldrums for 'Mt. Rushmore' feature

I wrote an item in my newspaper column in which I asked Rick Reilly about the silly SportsCenter feature "Mt. Rushmore of Sports" that he has been hosting.
"It’s February!" he said. "Isn’t that why Paul Gallico gave up sportswriting? They said, 'Why’d you give up sportswriting?' and he said, 'February.' Nothing happens!"
That hasn't been the case this particular February here in Primoboland, but for most of the country, the doldrums surely have set in.
