“Bronx Bombers,’’ which got tepid reviews – including here – during its Off Broadway run, moves to Broadway for previews starting Jan. 10 at Circle in the Square, with a new Yogi Berra in Peter Scolari and changes to the script.

But however odd that attempt to marry theater and baseball may be, another show coming in 2014 has it beat: Ron Shelton is adapting his much-loved movie, “Bull Durham,’’ for the stage. As a musical.

It is to open in Atlanta in September in advance of a Broadway run.

Casting has been interesting.

“In this audition process,’’ producer Laura Stanczyk told MLB.com, “the guys not only have to swing with a bat; they have to dance with a bat.
