'Canes score for ESPN
The acclaimed "30 for 30" documentary series on ESPN wrapped up the 2009 portion of its schedule last weekend with by far its highest-rated entry to date: "The U," about the spectacularly rowdy Miami Hurricanes of the 1980s and early '90s.
The show averaged 2.37 million viewers to become ESPN's most-viewed documentary ever, surpassing the one last year about the 1958 NFL Championship Game, which averaged 1.81 million.
(It helped that "The U" followed the Heisman Trophy presentation, which itself was among the most viewed in recent years.)
"30 for 30" returns with 23 more films in 2010, beginning March 14 with one about Reggie Miller's rivalry with the Knicks in the 1990s.
