  • Chipper Jones dumps on Shea Stadium one last time

Chipper Jones on Shea Stadium in an interview on Sirius XM Thursday:

Host Jeff Joyce: “No more Shea Stadium. Are you looking forward to playing in the new place or are you going to miss the old place?”

Jones: “I will miss that place terribly. That was one of my favorite parks. You play nine or 10 times a year in the same ballpark and you have as many just memorable games as the Mets and the Braves have had over the years. It was the place where I hit my first Major League homer. It’s always going to hold a special place in my heart. My third son is named Shea. It is a place that I hold near and dear to my heart.

"I will miss it, but that being said it was a…(laughing) It was a dump.”
