  • Craig Carton and Boomer Esiason set for MSG simulcast this fall

Here's a interesting development to end our blogging day, ripped hot off the presses from the Friday newspaper, hours before the presses actually run:

Mornings on MSG never will be the same.

The network plans beginning after Labor Day to simulcast WFAN’s morning show featuring Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton, a person familiar with the discussions said.

A contract has not been signed, but barring a snag the show should debut sometime in September. A spokesman for MSG declined to comment.

WFAN’s afternoon show has been on YES since the network launched in 2002.

MSG tried to secure Mike Francesa’s show when its contract with YES was up, but YES renewed last year.

Carton and Esiason took over WFAN’s morning drive time slot in September of 2007, replacing Don Imus, and since have risen to No. 1 in the ratings among men ages 25-54.

Esiason had a weekly talk show on MSG until last year.
