  • ESPN ombudsman weighs in on Alamo Bowl coverage

In his latest - and longest yet - column, ESPN ombudsman Don Ohlmeyer examines in extraordinary detail the network's coverage of the Alamo Bowl and the backdrop of ousted coach Mike Leach's battle with Adam James and his father, ESPN's own Craig James.

Read it if you are so inclined, but Don won't be offended if you don't. He knows Big 12 football would tend to take a back seat around here two days before the Jets are to play in the AFC Championship Game.

Sorry for the lack of blogging the past several days.

I was busy talking to Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson over a diet Coke at the Mandarin Oriental hotel, then attending the Rangers' victory over the Lightning with some ESPN execs and fellow sports media scribes, then attending a breakfast seminar at the Harvard Club in which Nielsen execs discussed the present and future of sports media, then screening The Rock's new film, "Tooth Fairy," then having lunch with SNY president Steve Raab, then talking to Michael Strahan about comparing the 2009 Jets to the '07 Giants, then speaking at a meeting of a synagogue men's club meeting in Wantagh, then driving to NFL Films headquarters in suburban Philly to watch tape with Ron Jaworski.

More about all of that in the hours, days and weeks ahead. Thanks for your patience.
