Fox apologizes for cartoon making fun of Jessica Simpson
Poor Jessica Simpson.
First President Obama and Matt Lauer kibitz about her weight on Super Bowl Sunday.
Then this past Sunday Fox broadcasts a crude cartoon - sponsored by Burger King - during its NFL pregame show making fun of her reported increase in size.
Even by Fox's loosey-goosey pregame standards, the piece clearly crossed the line.
Here is an article in the Dallas Morning News in which Fox apologized for its "poor attempt at humor."
If it were a man's girth the cartoon had lampooned, it would not have been an issue.
But a woman's weight was involved, and as every living male knows, that is a Class A, inexcusable, what-were-you-thinking, sleep-on-the-couch felony no-no.
