  • Giants and Islanders are red; Editor & Publisher is blue

The Islanders' Matt Moulson, right, celebrates his hat

Gotta wrap up the blogging for the week now, WatchDog Nation, but do enjoy the big football games, including Eagles-Giants, of course.

If guard Chris Snee is limited, Big Blue will go Big Red and call upon Kevin Boothe, about whom the NYT wrote today, here.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Boothe and Matt Moulson, who leads the Islanders in goals, form most prominent pair of Cornellians ever to be playing for two major New York pro teams at the same time.

(UPDATE: Sorry, I was looking at an old list. As TwoTimeZonesAway correctly noted, Tavares has moved ahead of Moulson in goals.)

Speaking of college, hard to believe Editor & Publisher, the long-time trade publication for newspaper types, is shutting down.

I secured my first full-time newspaper job by responding to a want ad from the Anchorage Times that appeared in E&P in December of 1982.

Unemployment that month was higher that at any other point since World War II, including now, by the way. You could look it up.

    Anyway, goodbye E&P. Sigh.
