Giants Stadium has not hosted a Monday night game since '05

The Giants face the Redskins on "Monday Night Football," not surprisingly as the visiting team.

In fact, Giants Stadium will close after this season having never hosted a regular-season Monday night game in the series' four years on ESPN.

The last Monday nighter at the Meadowlands was the last one on ABC; the Jets hosted the Patriots on Dec. 26, 2005.

The reason? Mostly logistics related to the new stadium construction which, for example, make it difficult to use satellite parking areas on a weeknight.

BTW, Giants Stadium will close having hosted 30 Monday night games, tied with the Dolphins' LandShark Stadium for second most ever.

No. 1? Candlestick Park, with 32.

Frank Gifford's MNF history vignette before Monday night's game? Duh. Lawrence Taylor. Joe Theismann. 1985. Yuck.
