Giants win SBXLII, add official dog snack w/funny name

Well, friends, since most of my summer was spent worrying about the fate of "Mike and the Mad Dog," I might as well declare this the official end of the WatchDog year, what with Mike making the schlep to Bar A today minus Chris for the first time, what with me taking a little time off and what with the arrival of big news that reminds us of the most monumental local sports story of the year.

Yup, it's true, the Super Bowl champs finally have an official dog snack, and New York is so darn proud of Big Blue no one will point out said snack has kind of an embarrassing name.

I won't even try to put the news into my own words; click below for the entire release:"Snausages®, the official dog snack of the New York Giants, is scoring one for homeless pets in the tri-state area today by announcing that with each successful third down conversion by the Giants offense during the 2008 regular season, the Giants and Snausages® will donate $100.00 to the New York Pet Rescue located in Larchmont, NY. The partnership plans to donate $10,000 to the shelter at the end of the season and operates through the Giants’ Pet First Program.

"In addition to the donation, Snausages® will sponsor the Giants MVP (Most Valuable Pooch) platform. Through this promotion, Giants fans will be invited to submit pictures of their favorite furry family member. Weekly winners will be featured in a pup-friendly photo gallery on Giants.com. Snausages® will showcase this partnership through on-pack promotional messaging on product which will be available in area retailers beginning September 2008."

Well, that's something to look forward to this fall: WatchDog poodles on Giants.com! For now, Happy Closing Ceremony, Happy Labor Day, Happy New As Yet Unnamed Mike Francesa Radio Program, Happy Football Season.
