  • Golf Channel show chronicles sport's Negro Leagues

golfer.bmpMy review copy of Golf Channel's new documentary, "Uneven Fairways," got lost in the mail, but I caught up with it this weekend.

The show chronicles the history of black golf in general and in particular the UGA, in effect the Negro Leagues of golf, before and during the integration of the PGA Tour.

The documentary is built mostly around talking heads, but in this case the talkers - aging pros from a disappeared world - are compelling enough to make it worthwhile.

For many viewers - including me - this entire subject is a revelation, making this the best kind of documentary, one that tells us something entirely new.

Baseball's Negro Leagues have been exhaustively chronicled. But a Negro Leagues of golf? Who knew?

Click below for a list of the remaining dates and times for the show on Golf Channel.
