  • Gus Johnson, MSG part ways

Gus Johnson, the long-time radio voice of the Knicks and a backup on its telecasts of the team's games, has parted ways with MSG.

It is believed the network wanted Johnson back but that the two sides could not agree on contract terms.

The network issued a statement that read, "Gus is a very talented broadcaster and has been a part of the MSG Network family for a long time. We wish him all the best and will miss having him on our team."

Johnson does extensive work calling boxing, mixed martial arts, college basketball, football and other events for national outlets, which had complicated his availability for Knicks games.

But the network apparently was willing to work around those conflicts to retain him.
