HBO's telecast of Monday night's "BNP Paribas Showdown for the Billie Jean King Cup" at the Garden - which is owned by Cablevision, as is Newsday - will feature Mary Carillo and John McEnroe, both of whom grew up in Douglaston, and Billie Jean King, who did not.

The event will feature Jelena Jankovic against Venus Williams, then Serena Williams against Ana Ivanovic, in one-set, no-ad semifinals.

Following a break, the winners will play one another in a best-of-three-sets match.

Pete Sampras and Roger Federer met in a very successful exhibition at the Garden last year.

BNP Paribas is a bank, by the way.

A bank that is sponsoring a sports event. Uh, oh. Don't tell anyone about this, please. We don't want any trouble.
