  • Howie Rose out, Kenny Albert in for tonight's Isles tilt

Breaking news: Howie Rose is ill and will be replaced by Kenny Albert as MSG Plus' play-by-play man for tonight's Caps-Islanders tilt.

Mr. Albert, the Rangers' radio play-by-play voice and a fill-in on Knicks TV, never before has worked on the Islanders' home TV announcing team.

He did work a few Islanders games on radio from 1989-92, including his first NHL broadcast: Islanders at Winnipeg on Dec. 2, 1989, during his senior year of college.

Good to see the Rangers and Islanders broadcast teams playing nicely with one another, especially after Coach Ryan tossed lighter fluid onto the Jets-Giants rivalry Monday.

(Albert worked a couple of Isles-Rangers games for Fox in the 1990s, including the one in which Salo and Cloutier famously tussled, above.)
