  • Islanders are studio host-less

Deb Placey and Rob Carlin, who shared hosting duties for Islanders telecasts on MSG Plus last season, have left the team, Placey for the Devils and Carlin for the Capitals.

With the season two weeks away, MSG is looking to fill those roles, probably with a single person for both home and away games.

Placey will replace Steve Cangialosi, who was named Wednesday to succeed Mike (Doc) Emrick, the long-time Devils play-by-play man, who chose to concentrate on his national TV work.

That will give Cangialosi some catching up to do on the local hockey play-by-play seniority list. Howie Rose enters his 17th season on Islanders games; Sam Rosen is going into his 28th with the Rangers.
