Jets are No. 1 in the book of Bill Shannon, baseball scorer
I ran into Bill Shannon, famed official scorer for many Yankees and Mets games, at Sunday's Titans-Jets game and asked whether he had taken a wrong turn in the Bronx.
It turns out there was no mistake: Working on the Jets' stats crew is Mr. Shannon's first priority, even over the Yankees clinching first place against the Red Sox.
He said he has not missed a home game since 1965 and has missed only five since the team's debut in 1960 - all during his service in the U.S. Army.
