Jets leave Hofstra, head to Jersey, turn right to Cortland
Boland writes here that the Jets are moving their training camp to Cortland, which is the same state as Hofstra but considerably farther from Hofstra than their new training facility in Jersey.
The cool news is the team will open some of its June mini-camp to the public. Please don't tell Eric Mangini about this. No one wants to see a young family man's head explode.
Cortland beat out Cornell, among other locations, for the honor, giving the state university system a sweep of the two New York-area teams' camps.
Pro wrestler Mick Foley and mall cop Kevin James, who were classmates at Ward Melville, both attended Cortland. So did both of my twin sisters. I remember helping them move in in the summer of 1980 and taping their Lee Mazzilli poster to the wall.
