Joe Torre discusses all this book stuff with Newsweek
Just when I think I have a handle on when and to whom Joe Torre is talking, something else turns up.
Here he chats with Newsweek about various issues, including his see-no-evil take on steroids in the 1990s. One frustrating thing about the book is that while it includes a long passage on Brian McNamee and the illegal substance culture in the clubhouse, Torre offers only a tepid, somewhat defensive response on that subject.
I sure hope Joe plans to make himself available to print reporters during his book tour next week. For now the only real sports world "journalists" on his list are Mike Francesa and Chris Russo.
Separately, of course.
Wednesday WFAN's Craig Carton did a hilarious, spot-on imitation of Russo lamenting his lack of visibility on Sirius XM, screaming about catering to the Martian audience via satellite and such.
I have to write about the Super Bowl for the Friday newspaper now. Enjoy the 1985 Michigan State-Iowa basketball game on ESPN Classic at 5 p.m.
