  • Keith Hernandez to stay put

I have been sitting on this for a while, partly because it is not yet official and partly because it comes as no surprise to anyone at SNY, but I've gotten enough questions from WatchDog Nation to warrant an update, so . . .

Keith Hernandez is close to signing a new deal that will keep SNY's Mets game booth of Hernandez, Gary Cohen and Ron Darling together for several more seasons.

Hernandez raised some eyebrows with a cryptic reference to his contract status after the Mets' final game of 2009, which started the speculative wheels turning.

But fear not. He'll be back.

(UPDATE: I now see Marty Noble of MLB.com, formerly the long-time Mets beat writer for Newsday, wrote about this very topic here tonight. Loyal WatchDog reader Andrew Vazzano beat him to it on his blog over the weekend.)
