  • Kyle Busch makes 1,600 left turns very rapidly as WatchDog watches

Enjoyed a long and memorable Sunday at Dover, where I attended my first official NASCAR race. (I almost did at Pocono in 2007, but left after several rain delays.)

I was fortunate enough to watch from several vantage points, including the garage, the pits, a premium area in a bridge directly over the track and high in the grandstand.

I even ran into Joe Gibbs!

My initial observations: World class stock cars are very fast and extraordinarily loud.

Even New Yorkers who did not grow up following the sport should check it out in person at least once. It's certainly a sports-viewing experience unlike any other.

More about all that in a couple of weeks before the Sprint Cup circuit visits Pocono in early June, its closest stop to LI.
