Neil Best leaves no stone unturned in the world of sports media.
LaSalle hosts Carson, Hurley, Best
I had a most enjoyable Friday morning among an esteemed group of speakers at LaSalle Academy on the Lower East Side as part of the school's Sports Day.
Harry Carson, Bob Hurley, Dave Herman, Tom Pecora, Shammgod Wells, Diane Dixon, Peter Vecsey and other sports figures were on the roster, and I was honored to be included.
In one class I was sandwiched between Vanessa Rodriguez, the Yankees' coordinator of Latino affairs and Carson. One was wearing a World Series ring, the other a Pro Football Hall of Fame ring.
Me? I brought along some of my old media credentials.
Anyway, the students appeared to be a fine group of young men, ready to follow in the footsteps of alums such as Ron Artest, John Candelaria and John Roche. Plus a lot of accomplished non-jocks.
This marks the end of a six-month stretch since I last took time off, so I'm out for a few days.
