Mad Mike spikes Russians

Mike Milbury is not expected to face any reprimand or other action from NBC in the wake of comments after Wednesday's Canada-Russia hockey game that included a curious choice of words.

Milbury said this about the Russians' poor performance:

"I was shocked that it was this one-sided and really disappointed that these guys came with with their Eurotrash game," he said. "No heart, no guts, no nothing there to back it up."

Eurotrash? Host Bill Patrick and fellow analyst Jeremy Roenick both seemed surprised.

Milbury appeared to be channeling Don Cherry, the Canadian analyst who for years has been famously critical of European players.

NBC did not make Milbury available for comment Thursday, but he spoke about the fallout on the NHL Network and did not back down.

"It is what it is," he said. "It was a terrible performance by the Russians, who played on the perimeter and shrank in the face of the physical force that was Canada."
