Mark McGwire shocked Costas
To me the most riveting moment of (Commack) Bob Costas' sitdown with Mark McGwire came in the first few minutes, when it became evident Costas was as blindsided as the rest of us by the central delusion of Big Mac's take.
Either that, or Costas is an excellent actor.
Costas: "You had a series of injuries, early '90s to the mid-'90s, and in your statement today you indicated that was at least part of the reason why you first used steroids.
"But then I would guess that the performance-enhancing aspect became evident and even once healthy you continued because it helped you perform, right?"
McGwire: "No."
Costas: "No?"
McGwire: "I did it for health purposes."
