Mets, Yanks have identical records: Time for a playoff!

Now that the Yankees and Mets have the same record, and in light of what Hank Steinbrenner wrote this week about the unfairness of it all . . . here's my idea for the right way to close out Shea:
After the Mets are eliminated, set up a special playoff to determine the champion of non-playoff teams based in New York.
Derek Jeter could make a nice speech. David Wright could take the home run apple home with him. Tom Seaver could scoop up some dirt from the mound as a souvenir and use it in his vineyard.
