Minka's show stopped short

Minka Kelly, Derek Jeter’s long-time girlfriend before a recent reported breakup, starred in one of the best-reviewed sports-related television shows of all time, “Friday Night Lights.”

More recently, she starred in “Charlie’s Angels,’’ which ABC cancelled Friday, a month into its first season. (At least her show lasted longer into October than Jeter’s did.)

Ms. Kelly’s situation prompts today’s big chance for pop culture reader input: What is the best TV show ever that featured a famous athlete’s significant other?

We’re talking TV here, so that pretty much eliminates the work of stage actress Helen Dauvray, whose marriage to the Giants’ John Montgomery Ward was among the biggest gossip page moments of 1887, and movie actress Marilyn Monroe, who was married for a time to a well-known Yankees centerfielder.

My vote: “Law & Order,’’ featuring former Giants cornerback Jason Sehorn’s wife, Angie Harmon. Honorable mention: "Cosby," featuring Phylicia Rashad.

What’s yours?
