MSG rolls out summer schedule
Let's face it: Summer programming has been a bit of a challenge for MSG since the two local baseball nines started their own networks last decade.
But MSG is trying, rolling out its "Summer Block Party" schedule next week, including two new shows.
One is called "TXT MSG," starting Monday, which the network described thusly:
"It will feature portions of vintage moments from the MSG library, including games, press conferences and locker room celebrations. Throughout the half-hour show, quirky and entertaining details relative to each clip will appear on-screen in the form of text messages, giving viewers a contemporary look into some of their favorite moments in-and-around The Garden."
Hmm. This should be interesting. Sources tell me one of the featured clips will be Mike Francesa interviewing Al (Grandpa) Lewis at the Play-by-Play Lounge.
The other new show, premiering Tuesday, is "MSG Countdown," which will identify the top 25 moments in various categories, beginning with Knicks buzzer beaters, then memorable Rangers fights in Week 2.
I have the DVDs of both episodes. I admit it: I'm going to watch the Rangers fights first.
