MSG's Walt Frazier makes best of a difficult situation
When (if?) the Knicks pull out of their post-millennial funk, MSG's Mike Breen and Walt Frazier will have a far easier and more pleasant job.
For now, they continue to walk a fine line between telling it like it is and dwelling depressingly on the team's ongoing shortcomings, thus turning off viewers even more. (MSG and Newsday both are owned by Cablevision.)
There is a certain pride in finding the right balance, as Frazier said Monday, in comments helpfully relayed to me by Newsday beat writer Alan Hahn:
"I pride myself on trying to be good in bad games because anybody can do good games. But try to keep people interested in a bad game.
