Super Bowl XLV averaged 47.9 percent of homes in major markets, tied for the best in Super Bowl history, led by 59.7 in Pittsburgh and Milwaukee.
The New York market averaged a 42.6, the best such figure in 28 years for a Super Bowl not involving a New York team.
Here is a review I wrote of the game telecast. It's mostly positive, except for the part about Fox ignoring the ticket fiasco other than a brief report on the pregame.

Speaking of nostalgia, my favorite ad of the night was the one for the NFL that featured a series of clips from iconic TV shows . . . even if it did mean reliving my worst ever TV moment - Marcia Brady being hit in the nose by a football.

As for the halftime show, other than The Black Eyed Peas' sound problems - hey, it happens when you're not lip-synching - they were a welcome change of pace from the parade of classic rock geezers that followed Janet Jackson's 2004 wardrobe malfunction.

Meanwhile, on the ESPN postgame, the in-stadium crew was shaky, with Steve Young as usual having trouble articulating questions when presented with a live interview subject.
But I liked the gang back in Fort Worth, with analysts Keyshawn Johnson, Trent Dilfer and Cris Carter.
Great line by Carter after colleagues said Brett Favre probably was happy for the Packers:
