Newsday.com, one year later
This ends our blogging week and month. Taking a little break.
Thursday was the first anniversary of Newsday.com switching to a pay / subscriber model in which Newsday and Optimum Online customers get the service free.
As I wrote and said at the time, and as I've written and said since to family, friends, co-workers, competitors, high-ranking Cablevision executives and anyone else who pretended to pay attention . . .
Yes, the reduction in visibility has been an ego blow, but if the net result is preserving my job (and those of my esteemed colleagues) and continuing a 70-year run of trusted journalistic service to Long Island and beyond, I'm all for it.
For those of you still with us: Thanks!
