  • Newsday telcom department wastes not, wants not

I got a memo from Newsday's hard-working telecommunications department Wednesday that said this:

"Good afternoon. I am contacting you because my records indicate you have a pager. I show your pager unit is #-----. Please let me know if you continue to have a business need for this pager."

I deleted the actual number of the pager to avoid causing trouble.

Not that it matters, of course, because, um, no, I do not continue to have a business need for this pager, and I have as much of an idea where this pager is as I do of the whereabouts of my Morse Code transmitter.

A pager?! Do people under 21 even know what those are? Sigh. But I'll look around for it.
