NFL made TV debut 70 years ago
The partnership between TV and the NFL, which has worked out well for both parties, began 70 years ago Thursday, when W2XBS carried the Eagles-Dodgers game from Ebbets Field.
The announcer was Allen Walz.
The New York Times account of the game didn't mention the media milestone, unlike a couple of months earlier for the first televised major league baseball game in the same stadium.
The Eagles' coach was future NFL commissioner Bert Bell.
The Dodgers won, 23-14, before 13,057 spectators.
