Off-road racing on NBC is dusty, but not musty

Some persistent p.r. people kept encouraging me to check out a DVD promoting Championship Off Road Racing, which this weekend will for the first time have both ends of a two-day event live on national TV, Saturday on Speed and Sunday on NBC, from Chula Vista.

So I did. There was a lot of dust involved, and cool-looking trucks flipping over and flying over bumps and stuff.

I'm no motor sports expert, but I will say this: It did look more interesting than watching cars go in circles for hours on end on a clean, flat, paved track.

I should have listened to my mother and been an off-road racer in California instead of a New York blogger.

Now I'm depressed. I'm done for the day. Read our other sports blogs. But not Handelsman's.

Newsday.com sources say he's still a few thousand page views ahead of me for July.
