Olympics off to good TV start
NBC said the first night of competition from Vancouver Saturday averaged 26.2 million viewers - more than for any night of the 2006 Games in Turin, when the U.S. population was smaller and the time zone was not as favorable - and Americans had money to do stuff like go out to dinner or to movies or on vacation rather than watch moguls skiing on TV.
The highest local rating was in Milwaukee, with 22.2 percent of households, perhaps thanks to that area having the most passionate speed skating following in the U.S.
