  • Peter Gammons says he can be objective even on MLB's Net

I know I reveal my naive, old-school quaintness every time I opine about notions such as media members with what used to be considered conflicts of interest.

But I figured I'd ask Peter Gammons about that anyway, as a journalist with four decades of experience now moving to the MLB-owned MLB Network and MLB.com.

He said Wednesday that he has been assured he will be allowed to be objective about baseball matters.

"It's been made very clear to me that that's the way it is," he said. "There are essential conflicts in almost everything we do today, and in almost any form of media. I'd like to think after 40 years in the media business I'm going to have the same, I hope, integrity I've always had."
