Preseason football is a wildly popular TV attraction
As a connossieur of creatively constructed news releases about TV ratings, I loved ESPN's effort off its Super Bowl 43 rematch Thursday, which it reported was the most-viewed NON-MONDAY NIGHT preseason game since 1994, with 4.8 million viewers.
There have been 42 non-Monday night preseason games on ESPN in that span so its not completely meaningless, but still . . . Well, it worked, I suppose. I did write about it here.
Creative math or not, the ratings for preseason NFL games do tend to be ridonkulous, thanks to weak summer competition and the massive popularity of the league.
Check out these insane numbers in the Dallas market for the Cowboys-Raiders game.
