Sage names Giants' pick
Classy move by the Giants Saturay having Vinny DiTrani of The Record of Bergen County, N.J., announce their fifth-round draft pick.
DiTrani has covered the team since the mid-1970s, and was nicknamed The Sage by Bill Parcells in the '80s.
DiTrani is scheduled to retire after the season, so the Giants honored him during his final draft.
I spent 10 years listening to the guy criticize most of the Giants' picks on draft day. Highly amusing that he now has actually made a one for them.
Fortunately, Vinny got a fairly easy name: Mitch Petrus. Fitting that he's a guard. Vinny always was the only one who knew who the guards were on draft day.
