'Seinfeld' reunion is pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good

I was fortunate enough Wednesday to attend a screening of two episodes from the upcoming "Seinfeld" reunion story arc on HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

(I sat in front of Larry David and Susie Essman, but heard no profanity-filled screaming matches between them.)

I will leave the official reviews to Verne Gay, but fans of "Seinfeld" and/or "Curb" are going to very much enjoy this Sunday's show.

(UPDATE: Hey, I just discovered this on Newsday.com. It turns out Verne already has reviewed the show, and gave it an A+.)

Afterward I introduced myself to Jerry Seinfeld and along with Sandomir of The Times sympathetically nodded while he lamented the chain reaction wreck that is the 2009 Mets.

(This was a little while before they concluded their sweep by the Nationals by yielding a walk-off grand slam.)

Seinfeld expressed concern about Jose Reyes and said reports of water leaks and damage in his suite at Citi Field were exaggerated.

Then he and David sat down to dinner with, among others, Regis Philbin!

Anyway, it was an interesting evening.

As the most shameless, annoying name-dropper in the sports blogosphere, my circuits got so overloaded by the eclectic audience - Caroline Kennedy, Harry Carson, Regis, Patricia Clarkson, Russell Simmons, Rosie Perez, etc. - that I think I finally got that stuff out of my system for good.

Thanks for your patience.

Speaking of patience . . . it appears our Web site has returned to dark type on white background!

Wow. One less thing for people to complain about to me. I like it!
