SNY Kidcaster is a home run
Jacob Resnick, 11, of Manhattan, winner of SNY's third annual Kidcaster Contest, had the good fortune to be at the mike Tuesday when Jose Reyes hit a home run for the Mets.
But it was his solid - if a bit high-pitched - call of the round-tripper that earned him a wave of media attention, including on MLB Network and ESPN.
The latter made Reyes' home run and Resnick's call No. 1 on its top plays list for Tuesday.
SNY certainly knows how to pick 'em for the Kidcaster promotion.
Last year's winner, Kara Anne Galante, also got to call a Mets home run.
And in 2009, 10-year-old Kyle Singh of Queens charmed SNY's announcers and many viewers with his quirky use of the word "sandwich" as part of his call, explaining it was to describe the pitcher's attempt to build a strikeout in three pieces.
Or something like that.
