  • Tebow is a 'Good Guy'

Tim Tebow addresses the media as he is

Sure, the Jets dropped a potential hand grenade in the middle of their locker room when they acquired Tim Tebow.

But the team has at least one thing it needn't worry about with its backup quarterback, and it's important in Media City: No matter what, the guy simply will not be flustered by the press corps. Like Derek Jeter and Eli Manning, he has mastered the art of being accessible and professional while not saying anything that will get him into trouble.

Before taking a snap for the Jets, Tebow already has won a major media honor: The Good Guy Award from the Pro Football Writers of America for helping journalists do their jobs -- in his case amid a crush of attention last season.

Tebow's football resume is not yet near the level of previous winners -- Jerome Bettis (2005), Tiki Barber (2006), LaDainian Tomlinson(2007), Brett Favre (2008), Kurt Warner (2009), Drew Brees (2010) and Aaron Rodgers (2011) -- but his ability to navigate the media meshugas might face a bigger challenge this autumn than any of those guys' did.
