Tom Brady hurt ankle on third-quarter sack
I was watching tape this morning with ESPN sleuths Ron Jaworski and Sal Paolantonio when they apparently uncovered the early third-quarter play on which Tom Brady hurt his ankle during the AFC title game.
As seen from the end zone view on the coaches' tape, Brady has his right ankle bent awkwardly as he steps up in the pocket under pressure and is sandwiched by Luis Castillo and Shaun Phillips.
On the next snap (which resulted in an interception), Brady can be seen stepping gingerly on the ankle as he backs away from the play.
Jaworski also identified a first-quarter play on which he thought Brady slightly rolled the ankle as he dropped back. He reported that one on SportsCenter last night. I believe Sal will report the latest finding on "NFL Live" at 4 p.m ET.
I'll write more about Jaws' tape observations later in the week.
